If you follow Carl Albert Athletics, then you have certainly heard the name Brandon Rogers.
Now in his senior season, Rogers makes his return to the basketball court for one final run as a prep player.
For four seasons, Rogers has called the court home, representing the Titans and helping his team win. Coach Jay Price said of Rogers, “Brandon is a four-year player who has been a vital part of our program. He has grown as a player over the years and has become someone that his teammates look up to. He is a solid defender, good scorer and overall, well rounded player,” coach Price said.
Rogers sees his teammates as family, something they share as a group.
“What I love most about this team and my teammates is that we are like family and some of us grew up together,” said Rogers. “Seeing how much we accomplish and making a run in the playoffs is something I look forward to this season.”
The senior is inspired by family and those closest to him away from the court.
“My grandpa and parents inspire me. They have always been there for me and pushed me to be who I am today,” Rogers said.
One of the biggest surprises for Rogers was watching teammates leave for other schools, but the senior believes in the team and the guys on the roster. Some are more vocal while others keep the group loose and laughing.
“The most vocal is probably LeBron Royal, getting mad at the refs. Cain always makes everyone laugh,” Rogers said.
In the classroom, Rogers said his favorite subject is math, but his favorite teacher is coach Bradshaw from his freshman year. Beating Crossings Christian at home when he was a sophomore is a highlight Rogers won’t forget, but the senior has continued to work on his game and prepare for his last year of prep basketball.
“My strength is my shooting, and I’ve worked on just getting to the rim more,” Rogers said.
Aside from basketball, Rogers will play tennis in the spring and find some time to spend with family and friends.
