Coach: Jay Price
2021-22 Record: 21-8
Last season Carl Albert made it to the semifinals in the Class 5A state tournament but fell to Del City 52-40. This year the Titans return several key players and have veteran depth ready to step up and take the next step forward. Head coach Jay Price said that he hopes this year’s team can learn from their experience last season and make another run toward state. Jordan England (6-0, Sr.) a VYPE Top 100 nominee was a key member on the semifinal team and has been working hard to improve his game and coaches say he has a chance to continue his career at the next level. England is a very steady and consistent player who is always looking to make his teammates better. He could take the next step if he’s more aggressive when looking for his own scoring opportunities.
Tashawn James (6-2, Sr.) is a tremendous athlete and Iowa State football commit. On the hardwood he has the same ballhawking mentality and will win every battle for a 50/50 ball and leaves everything on the floor. Quincy Hopkins (6-3, Sr.) has great strength and body control and coaches have been impressed by his commitment to continuously improve and work on his game. “He is up and coming,” Price said. “He will be a huge part of our success this season if we are able to achieve that.”
Newcomer Steven Anderson (Fr.) has already made an impression and they believe he will continue to develop into a solid contributor with big upside as he grows and adjusts to the high school level. Mason Novotny (5-9, Jr.) and Reed Dequaise (6-2, Sr.) are solid athletes that bring their heart and passion to the team. They are the kind of guys that will hold teammates accountable and do all the little things right.
Other players to look for include: Jayden Mott (6-6, Jr.), Hutch Russell (5-9, Jr.), Ryan Reynolds (6-4, Sr.), Quincy Hopkins (6-3, Sr.), Casey Baker (6-0, Sr.), and Tony Ganther (5-5, Sr.). Assistant coaches for the Titans include: Cameron Couch, Jordan Price, Jared Price, and Chaz Davis.
