Emily Boyer of Carl Albert High School started playing volleyball when she was in the fourth grade. By the age of 12 she was playing club ball. Now the setter and outside hitter for the varsity team, Boyer said she loves playing the sport and she loves playing with this group.
“I love volleyball because it makes me so happy when I play my favorite sport and I get to make memories with my friends and teammates,” Boyer said. “I also love that I get to make new friends when I play club volleyball. My teammates that attend different schools come to my games and I attend their games and we support each other through the schools season.”
Carl Albert has become a very competitive volleyball team, but they are still in the hunt for their first state title in volleyball.
“We are all fighting together to be the best players we can be and win for our school,” said Boyer. “Carl Albert High School is the home of champions, and we want to make our school proud in its rich tradition. We want to bring home our first state championship in volleyball.”
Boyer is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth for Christ, Student Council, National Honor Society, Key Club and Student 2 Student (S2S). Her favorite subject in school is trigonometry/pre-calculus and her favorite teacher is Coach Looney who is her Zoology teacher.
Boyer’s plan after she graduates include playing volleyball in college and pursuing a degree in sports medicine or physical therapy.
