At the age of four, Taylor Charron started playing T-ball for the Cherry Bombers and now she is a member of the varsity softball team at Carl Albert High School. Today Charron is a 12-year veteran entering her junior year of high school.
“I’m an outfielder and utility player, but I’ve played most all positions over the year, except pitcher. I am happy to play wherever my coaches need me to play,” said Charron. “What I love most about my team is the great bond you get to share and how we can come from all different teams and backgrounds but still work well together and play hard together as one team.”
Being part of a team is nothing new for Charron. During the winter months, Charron is a member of the varsity swim team amongst other activities which keep her busy.
“I have qualified for the state meet the last two year and been part of the 5A state championship swim team for the 2020 year and the 2021 year. Also, I was a member of the CAHS track team my sophomore year. I was a discus and shotput thrower. I’m currently a member of National Honor Society, Youth for Christ, and Student Council. Also, I work with our CAHS Special Olympic athletes,” said Charron. “Being a student-athlete at CAHS is so special because we all support each other and acknowledge the work all the athletes are accomplishing, in the class and on the field to be successful.”
This season Charron and the Lady Titans have high expectations for the fastpitch softball team.
“I have high expectations for the team this year because I trust my teammates and know each are very capable players. We have many accomplished returners and many of us have played together for several years. I expect big things from this team, this year,” said Charron.
One person Charron said she can always count on is her mother. From supporting her in sports to helping her with those tough life questions, her mother is always by her side.
“My mom is a big influence in my life, because she always tells me to do everything to the best of my abilities and to do what I love. She is my biggest supporter in what I do and, in my life,” said Charron.
Once she graduates, Charron said she would like to attend college and pursue a degree. Her favorite subject is math or history, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Amy Cox, but she is undecided on what she would like to study in college.
When she’s not on the field you can usually find her hanging out with friends and family.
