Kailey Stuart’s coaches can’t say enough about her leadership qualities.
“She is an amazing athlete,” Carl Albert head volleyball coach Tabitha McCray said. “She is constantly raising the confidence of her teammates up. She can play any position and is a strong asset on and off the court. She is a great role model and an incredible setter.”
Stuart, now a senior, is enjoying her final run with many of the same teammates she has played with since sixth grade as the Titans have made significant improvements.
“The win against Choctaw has been my proudest win! My whole team contributed in every way we needed and that’s what brought us to the win,” Stuart said. “I was able to put the ball down and get our team multiple points.”
Stuart learned to lead partially from her sister, Madison, who was herself a stellar volleyball player at Carl Albert.
“Being a leader is very hard, knowing you have to lead not only yourself but your teammates also. I love being able to be a big leader because watching some of the girls take my advice and looking up to me is the best feeling in the world,” Stuart said. “My sister Madison was a very good volleyball player. She has given me a ton of advice, my favorite piece of advice she gave me was it doesn’t matter how many people are there to watch you, you are your biggest fan, and you need to play your heart out every time. So even if no one is there I try my hardest. . . My sister has always been my biggest motivator of trying to do everything through Christ. She makes me want to get closer to him.”
Stuart has big goals for the Titans this season. She doesn’t just want to win games. She wants to make history.
“My goals for this season is to take my team to state and win a state title for the first time in Carl Albert’s history,” Stuart said. “It will take everyone on my team to step up in their own position and play the best they can every game. And have us work as a team every game to win!”
After high school, Stuart plans to attend Rose State College for her general courses then pursue a degree in sonography.
