VYPE: Cash, what grade are you in and what weight are you wrestling at this season?
Cash Wiley: I am sophomore, and I wrestle at 120lbs.
VYPE: What age did you start wrestling?
CW: I’ve been wrestling since I was about six.
VYPE: What’s your biggest strength on the mat and what have you improved on this season?
CW: I think my biggest strength is my speed. But the things I’ve worked on that, I think I have improved on is my technique. I’ve learned a lot of new set ups and attacks.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at CAHS?
CW: We have amazing coaches and teachers, but the standard at Carl Albert drives us to become great.
VYPE: Which teammate have you been impressed with this year?
CW: I’ve been impressed with two teammates this year and one is Brayden Mixay, he’s grown a lot this year in his wrestling, and I can see it when he’s wrestling. The other one is Kingston Sikes and he’s just a freshman, but his wrestling skills are very good.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
CW: Kingston Sikes is always smiling and making jokes, so I think he’s the funniest. But honestly, I might be the most serious just because, I’m there to get work done and take it serious at times.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
CW: I pray before my matches. It helps me realize that I’m doing this for Jesus not for myself. But also, I like to repeat in my mind that I’m ready to attack and I like to think of set ups and shots I might take in a match.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates?
CW: What I love about my teammates is there very uplifting and encouraging. Also picking each other up when someone falls. But I do not play any other sport.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
CW: My lifelong goal is to show Jesus and spread the gospel. He’s done so much for me, so I want to represent him. Also, I plan on becoming a pastor after high school.
