OUTLOOK
Seeking its first state title in program history, Carl Albert volleyball is eager to establish itself as a formidable power this year. “They are energetic with a drive to make a point this year,” head coach Tabitha McCray said. “They are already hard-working and keeping their eye on the goals.” Setter Kailey Stuart (Sr.), an Oklahoman All-City selection last year, is the team’s most anticipated returning player. “[Stuart] is an amazing athlete,” McCray said. “She is constantly raising the confidence of her teammates up. She can play any position and is a strong asset on and off the court. She is a great role model and an incredible setter.” Evi Mitchel (Sr.), a versatile defensive specialist, provides the team its heartbeat. “[Mitchell] gives it her all every time she steps on the court,” McCray said. “She is an encourager on and off the court. She is willing to step into any position I throw at her.” Other seniors Eden Shroeder (Sr. OH), Kristen Stoeser (Sr. Libero) and Brooklyn Carpenter (Sr. OH) and their veteran leadership will be crucial this season, but this year’s Titans will feature a mix of young and old. Zoey Vineyard (Fr.) is expected to make an immediate impact. “[Vineyard] has brought so much spark in the little time she has been here,” McCray said. “She is a hard hitter with great leadership as a freshman.”
