9 Questions with Carl Albert’s Tyler Shaw – Presented by Performance Course

VYPE: How long have you played tennis and who got you started? 

Shaw: I’ve been playing since I was in elementary. I started because of my older brother and my tennis coach, coach Mays. 

VYPE: What are you playing for CAHS this season?
Shaw: I’m playing No. 2 singles.


VYPE: What do you enjoy most about the game? 

Shaw: The competitiveness. Others may dislike it, but I like tennis because competitiveness brings pressure, which I enjoy a lot.

VYPE: What’s your favorite memory competing for Carl Albert? 

Shaw: Getting State-Runner Up at the 5A State Championship.

VYPE: What do you enjoy most about your teammates? 

Shaw: They try hard. Even though they’re very limited on resources compared to a lot of schools, my teammates try very hard and make the most of it.

VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at school? Any clubs or groups? 

Shaw: I’m involved in FFA and Masonry.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate and what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Shaw: Go work and go to college. I enjoy playing tennis or driving cars in my free time.

VYPE: What part of your game is most improved for this season? 

Shaw: My serve, it’s improved and made a huge impact on my game.

VYPE: Who are some teammates we should watch this season? 

Shaw: Jackson Bales, and Carter Reese.
