Carl Albert’s Hutch Russell – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Guerrero Electrical Service

Playing sports teaches selflessness. Carl Albert High School senior, Hutch Russell learned to be a good teammate and to not be selfish. Whether dealing with family members, coworkers, or teammates, treating people this way builds trust.

“Just being part of a team is a feeling you can’t make up. Being part of something where you know everyone on the team has your back and how they hold you accountable, pushing you to work hard every day is the best feeling,” he says.

Hutch is a multisport athlete. He loves basketball but baseball is his passion. “I’m passionate about baseball because it’s my dream and when I get to wake up every day chasing my dream that is a true blessing and I want to do that for as long as possible.

“My favorite athletic memory is definitely getting to win a state championship with my brother in baseball. My freshman year getting to play was pretty cool by itself, but getting to win a state title with my big brother that was definitely my favorite athletic memory,” said Hutch.

Hutch proudly carries on the Titan tradition. “The foundation of greatness has already been laid down at Carl Albert and I just get to carry on that greatness,” he said.

Hutch looks up to former professional baseball player, Derek Jeter. “He is the guy that I looked up to the most growing up just because his leadership skills are unmatched and the way he came up big in the big moments inspired me the most.

“My Teammates inspire me every time I walk into the facility. Some days I’m really motivated and some days I’m not. They keep me consistent; they keep me on the path to become great,” he said.

“I want to give a huge shoutout first to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without my faith I am nothing and I hope to bring others closer to him every day. I also want to give a huge shoutout to my family. I am very blessed with a great family that loves me and are my biggest supporters.”

“Just have fun,” advises Hutch, “I feel like we always are getting caught up in our successes and failures. Just stay consistent every day and have fun playing, because at the end of the day it’s a game.”
