Trynae Washington, a 2023 All-State football player at Carl Albert High School, has been dedicated to the sport since his early days. “I started playing football at El Reno in second grade and played a little bit of 7v7 and flag football up to this point,” he recalled. His journey in sports has been diverse, as he participated in multiple sports growing up. “I was a multi-sport athlete growing up, playing football, baseball, basketball and running track. Football just ended up sticking with me and working out better than the other sports.”
Team chemistry is crucial for Trynae and his team, especially with the influx of younger players. “Our team chemistry is something we will work on with as many young guys we have coming up, but we have a lot of returning players that are great leaders and will help them out,” he explained. His leadership role on the team is significant. “I have a big role on the team, as far as being a leader and having my teammates look up to me. I just make sure everyone is putting in work and getting at least 1% better every day.”
Setting high personal and team goals is a priority for Trynae. “My personal goals are getting 1,000 receiving yards and not giving up a touchdown in coverage. As a team, I want us all to build a brotherhood and win another championship.”
Reflecting on his challenges, Trynae mentions, “The most challenging part of my career was earning a varsity spot as a freshman and earning trust from my coaches.” A memorable highlight for him was, “getting an interception late in the game in front of my future coaches at OU during the state game.”
The community’s support is vital to his performance. “The community is very important because of the energy they bring to the games, makes me play better, and the support is always appreciated.”
Off the field, Trynae enjoys relaxing with friends and playing video games. His role models include his teammates and his hardworking parents. “My role model on the field would be my teammates because of how we push each other and keep getting better. Off the field would be my parents because they are both independent, hard workers.”
As Trynae continues his football journey, he remains focused on growth and gratitude. “I am most proud of my growth at all my positions. I would like to thank all my coaches, my parents and my teammates.” After high school, he plans to play at OU and start a business. Trynae Washington is a name to watch, both on and off the field.
